Itinerary

DAY 1

DAY 1

Your journey begins with arrival at the bus station in Puerto Maldonado around 7:30 am. After transfer to our office, you will receive a final briefing and explanation of the upcoming days. Note that if you have large luggage, we recommend leaving items in our office and only taking what you need for the trip.

From there, we will take a 2-hour land transfer in a 4×4 truck to reach the Tambopata River banks. After arriving at our destination, you will take a boat to the lodge. Once settled in, lunch will be served (depending on arrival time). In the afternoon, an introductory walk into the rainforest awaits, giving you the opportunity to see animals such as amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and insects in their natural habitat.

DAY 2

DAY 2

An early wake-up call at approximately 4:30 am will take you on an incredible journey by boat to the world’s largest macaw clay lick, El Chuncho. The boat journey of about 1 hour and 30 minutes offers opportunities to see capybaras (the world’s largest rodents), tapirs, and if you are lucky, the most beautiful South American feline, the jaguar.

Upon arrival at the macaw clay lick, you will witness hundreds of parrots of different species (approx.11) eating clay adjacent to the river. After the parrots, you will view three species of the most colorful macaws of America with colors ranging from reds and greens to blues and yellows. They come to gather and eat clay necessary for their daily diet and eliminate toxins. On a good day, you can see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying over you, an experience of a lifetime. After this breathtaking activity, we will return to the lodge for breakfast and rest time.

Then, we will walk through the botanical garden where you can see some fruit, timber, and medicinal species. Lunch will follow.

Our boat will take us back to our transport for the return trip to Puerto Maldonado on the same route. Arrival in Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport or bus terminal.
